I’m Not a Burger!

Monday, October 29th, 2007

I was playing with Gavin, picking him up pretending to eat his belly while saying, “I’m going to eat a Gavinburger! Give me some ketchup!” He said, “I’m not a burger don’t eat me!” I asked him why wasn’t he a burger and he answers,

“Burgers don’t poop”

Go Blues!

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

Tonight the wife and I are going to take Gavin to his first Blues game! This will either be a lot of fun or the worst idea I’ve had so far as a parent.

For those of you that don’t follow the NHL (and you should), the Blues are off to a great start this year after two disappointing seasons and are exciting to watch again!

Hopefully I’ll remember to bring the cheap-o pocket camera and get some pictures to post later.

If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I got a phone call the other day from a woman who wanted me to fix her computer. She admitted that she doesn’t know anything about them but hers is broken and she can’t do anything with it. I ask to to describe to me what it does do and she says, “I can’t do anything, I turn it on and I get a blue screen with errors”. I tell her to find all the cds that came with it and bring it by.

I plug it in and everything works perfectly. It’s really slow though and I remove a ton of spyware (their PC Tools spyware remover apparently is useless!) I turn off a bunch of auto start programs and set the BIOS for “Performance” and it seems to be working a lot faster now, but still no crashes.

I think I’m going to have to take it to their house and check it. I’m thinking it has to be a hardware conflict with a device they are using.

Reupped

Looks like I won’t be getting that early retirement after all.

Rollin’ Rollin’ …um Walkin’

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

My friends and I actually stopped talking about riding our bikes and actually started riding them again! Since we’re all old and out of shape compared to how we used to be we’ve been taking it slow, which is probably a good idea.

We’ve been riding the Katy Trail for a bit after everyone gets home from work and its a lot of fun, gradually stretching the miles each week. The problem is that we’re riding in the dark and I don’t have a light yet so it’s kinda hard to see sometimes.

Last night we decided to ride to Creve Coeur Park and as we’re at our turn around spot I notice my front tire pressure is a little lower than I would like for this kind of riding. I pump it up and when I take the pump off THE VALVE CORE SHOOTS OUT of my presta valve and the tire deflates! I don’t have a spare tube because I just started riding again and haven’t got around to buying everything I need yet. My friend has a spare but it’s the larger schrader valve so it won’t fit my rim (he has presta rims too so I’m not sure why he is carrying that tube). We mess around for 20 minutes trying different ways to keep air in the tire, none of which work. We’re 10 miles from home so I call another friend and have him meet me in a nearby commuter lot which is 3 miles away while my riding buddies take off for home.

I push my bike to the lot the same time my friend shows up to take me home and we get home the same time my riding buddies show up. Perfect timing!

So anyway, here is my shopping list:

2 innertubes!
Bike Light
Bike computer (so I know how far I’m hopefully not walking)
The wife will probably make me get a cellphone after this too
