Master of Disguise

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

The people who know me know that I am usually wearing shorts and a T-shirt from a beer festival, or a Blues Hockey T-shirt, a T-Shirt from giving blood, or a Blues hockey T-shirt from giving blood.

I know I’m not the most stylish dresser but I didn’t realize how bad it was until I was getting ready to go to my friends funeral. I’m putting on some nice pants and a button down shirt and Gavin comes in and says, “Who’s Daddy pretending to be?”.

I discovered my little site was mentioned in the newspaper this morning. If for some reason I start getting a lot of traffic I hope my server and connection can hold up.

That’s a Ford Truck!

Saturday, June 24th, 2006

Gavin’s new thing is “What does that spell” He understands that letters make words and that logos are trying to give him information as well. So when he pointed to the Ford logo on my dad’s truck and asked “What’s that spell” and learned it meant Ford a lightbulb went off in his head. Later when we went to Grant’s Farm he noticed that all cars have logos on the front so our trip through the parking lot went like this, “Whats that car? What’s that car? Whats THAT car? What kinda car is that one?” After one pass he had rememebred the logos for (takes a breath) Ford, Mercury, Chrysler, GMC, Chevy, Toyota, Mazda, Honda, Audi, Hyundai, Cadillac, Pontiac, Subaru, VW, Jeep and Nissan. There might be even more but I can’t think of any.

Now when we are driving someplace The color commentary from the back seat sounds like this, “That’s a [insert make] car!” for every car we are behind.

Just further proof that a child thats raised by a man doesn’t learn anything different than one being raised by a woman.

Today I’m going to throw out a bunch of random words and you try and guess which one doesn’t belong.
Pickup truck, Wal-Mart, Shopping, 100 degree heat, 3 month old left in the truck.

Blatant Thinkgeek.com Plug

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

My wife got me a cool shirt from ThinkGeek.com for my birthday. After throwing it in the wash the decal started coming off so I sent off an email and they are sending me a new one! Gotta love customer service.

Nap Attack

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

Big bed update.
The first day I gave up around 2:30 in the afternoon and put him in his crib where he finally fell asleep. Yesterday he was tired and actually fell asleep in the bed. YAY!
Today we were out and he fell asleep in the car on the way home, so he’s napping in the bed but I don’t know if it really counts. We’re also still putting him in his crib at night until he gets used to sleeping in the big bed more.

I realized yesterday that I need to change some habits now that he’s not caged in. While he was napping yesterday I decided to take a shower and I forgot I left the basement door open so I wouldn’t make as much noise going up and down the stairs. I have to remember to keep it closed since he can now hop out of the bed and expore around the house on his own.

Big Boy Bed

Monday, June 12th, 2006

For the last 2 years we have been using the twin bed in Gavin’s room as a storage center for whatever random crap we happened to have laying around, and yesterday we finally got around to clearing it off and setting it up as his new bed. Today I am going to try and have him nap in it. I guess we should leave the house and do something so he will get tired enough to fall asleep before I lay him down, since I’m pretty sure he will enjoy the fact that there isn’t a cage to keep him trapped any more.

Wish me luck!

I should probably go out and get a cover or a outlet plug for the 220V outlet in his room. Yes, we have 220V wall outlets in every room of the house.
