I realized I haven’t posted  here lately.  One reason is that
not much is going on.  I’m getting used to Gavin’s new
independence and how to use it to my advantage so things have been
getting easier on that front.  The other thing is I have a lot of
little projects I’ve been working on.  In the past I would have
finished all these tasks over a weekend, but its not the same with
Gavin running around with an IDE cable in one hand and a VCD of Lord of
the Rings in the other! (What a little nerd)

Here are some of the tasks I’ve finished:
    Removing the old PowerMac that I was using as a
jukebox for the bar and replacing it with a linux box.  Gavin will
be getting the PowerMac as soon as I find a place to put it.
   
    I’m about 90% done with correcting all my MP3 ID
tags so I can find the songs on my iPod. After 10 years of ripping my
CDs, who woulda thunk ID tags were important?

Some things I’m still working on:
    A friend dropped off an old dual p2 300 Dell
Poweredge server with 6 raid drives (40 gig) and I’m working on
replacing my poor overworked p2 233 IBM desktop thats the webserver
now.  There are some hardware issues that I need to figure out,
like why it gives me a memory error when booting and I have to press F2
to continue.  That won’t do me any good if I have to reboot it
remotely.

Thats about it for me.  I was feeling a bit overwhelmed for a
while, trying to do my stuff while Gavin was doing his thing but the
wife stepped in and gave me some time to myself so I could work on one
task and get it done. (Thanks)  I don’t know how people can say
they work from home and watch their kids and get anything done. (more…)

When you’re a young single woman, sometimes you need to blow off some
steam by getting drunk and passing out in your car in the bar’s parking
lot.  Bringing your 4 month old baby along takes the party to a whole new level. (more…)

Sometimes its amazing how the mind of a baby works.  Gavin was
trying to push one of his cars on his snack table and was having a
rough time because the tabletop is made of many slats of wood and is
really uneven.  After a few minutes of not getting anywhere he
picks up the car and walks across the room to his toybox, he puts the
car on the lid and opens it allowing the car to roll down the hill he
just created.  He then closes the lid, get the car and does it
about 10 more times.

It fascinates
me how he can figure things out sometimes. (more…)

Gavin is starting to learn some colors.  He gets his book on
colors and if we point to one and ask what color a lot of times he will
get it right.  The problem is that he will say, “yellow, red, BLUE
HOCKEY” 

At least he has his priorities straight. (more…)
