More stuff to worry about

Tuesday, October 26th, 2004

When you think you’ve read the final thing to fret over when raising a
child, you learn something new.  The latest warning to come out
says not to let your child swallow two magnets at the same time!
So if you are feeding your child magnets, make sure you check the
diaper for the first to pass before you give him the second.  It
looks like one magnet at a time is OK. (more…)

Team America

Gavin, Aubrey, and I haven’t been out much lately so I thought it would
be a good idea to go to the movies.  We looked around for some
family type fare and saw this puppet movie that was out.  It
looked like the Thunderbirds TV show I used to enjoy and since the
Thunderbirds movie that was out looked like it wouldn’t be any good it
seemed to be a good substitute.  I did a little research and
learned that the creators of Team America have also done cartoons and
musicals, it was the perfect choice!

Let me tell you something, this is not a kids movie!  What were
the people thinking?  I was shocked!  These guys went from
having an Oscar nomintation song to this!  What more can I say?

You should go see it for yourself to understand what I’m talking about. (more…)

Grey Days

I really, really hate this  time of year.  I don’t mind the
temperature, its the darkness, and the time hasn’t even switched
yet.  Its so hard to come up with any motivation to do
anything.  It wasn’t so bad when I worked third shift because I
stayed up after work and went to sleep when it got dark.  I guess
now that I’m home I can go out and do stuff when and if the sun is out
but once it gets dark it will be very hard to get me to leave the house
for anything.

Gavin doesn’t give me a second to do anything anymore.  Sleeping
throught the night is a good thing but he stays awake almost all day
long and he’s moving around the house more and more so I can’t take my
eye off of him for a second.  I know I’ll get used to it and find
time to get everything done but for now its pretty tough.  My
parents are sure going to be in for a suprise when they watch him
Saturday night! (more…)

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Friday, October 1st, 2004

Gavin’s buttal area seems to be fine if anyone was wondering.

Yesterday a friend calls up and says he has an extra ticket to the
Cardinals game.  I decided to bring Gavin along for his first
game.  Besides, I wanted him to have a chance to go to Busch
Stadium before they tear it down.  We took the Metrolink down,
found my friends and sat down to watch the game.  Gavin was really
good the whole time.  He ate, took a nap, and seemed to enjoy all
the people and the noise.  One word of caution for anyone else
wanting to try this, I couldn’t seem to find and diaper changing
stations so we made due with empty offchutes off the concourse.  A
sorta scary thing happened when a foul ball landed about 10 yard past
our seats.  Gaving was sleeping on my lap and I could see this
ball coming down with no idea what to do.  I put my arms out and
leaned over him the best I could, luckilly the ball went past us.

I decided to leave around the 6th inning (9:00) because I wanted to
miss the overcrowded Metrolink train.  I guess it was because the
Cards were losing 6-2 at that point, but it seemed like EVERYONE was
leaving at the same time.  I didn’t feel like a sardine but that
was probably because I managed to grab a seat, maybe if I would have
stayed until the end the train would have been empty.  Gavin had a
great time on the ride back.  Laughing and babbling with the other
passengers and mostly just plain hamming it up.

It turned out to be a lot of fun and I’m glad we went, but afterwards I
was thinking on how sometimes I keep forgetting he is a 6 month old
baby and not just some guy who lives with me. (more…)
