Determination

Thursday, September 23rd, 2004

I have this excited/dreadful feeling that Gavin will be crawling by the
end of next week.  Today I had him in his crib hoping he would
take a nap and instead he was playing with his mirror he has in his
bed.  I laid him down in the middle of the bed but he saw
something he liked, it was a ball thats mounted in the mirror.  He
has never seemed too interested in it before but apparently today was
the day.  He was so mad it was out of his reach he scooted and
scooted to get to it and then he fell asleep.  So today he has
learned that if he wants something he can go get it he he tries hard
enough.  Enough of my rambling, just watch the video HERE (Quicktime).
As I said before, I don’t know to feel joyous or scared out of my wits,
broken CD-ROMS, coax cable, and extra network cards are ok for babies
to play with, right? (more…)

Gas Mask

Monday, September 20th, 2004

I have noticed that I am getting a lot of hits from Rebeldad.com (hello guys) so I thought I would pass along this tip.

I was at Target today to buy some Mylicon gas drops for around $11 when
I noticed the Target brand for close to $4.00.  I checked and
everything looked the same and Gavin seems to be feeling no ill
effects, except for lack of gas.  I would recommend everyone to
try it out if you can shop at Target. (more…)

Butt Scootin’ Boogie

Friday, September 17th, 2004

Today I laid Gavin on his back on his playmat so I could load the
dishwasher and of course he immediately rolls over to his stomach which
is normal.  I spend a few minutes away and can hear him talking
and fussing about, so when I look in to check on him he’s moved about 2
feet to the right and about 2 feet to the back.

I think we’re going to have to seriously start thinking about how to babyproof this house (more…)

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin

Wednesday, September 15th, 2004

Gavin has always slept well throughout the night but lately his sound
sleeping has been freaking us out.  We’ve always had him sleeping
on his back like they say you should but now that he can roll over
there isn’t we can do about how he sleeps and he seems to like sleeping
on his stomach.  The problem is that sometimes he doesn’t turn his
head very much and it looks like his face is in the mattress.  I
come in to check on him and it takes a minute or so to make sure he’s
still breathing.

I know there isn’t anything I can do once he’s mobile and I know that
once they are strong enough to move they are pretty safe when they
sleep but it is quite nerveracking sometimes. (more…)

Sleep

Monday, September 13th, 2004

Gavin had another good weekend.  We think the problem he is having
with falling asleep at night is gas buildup from throughout the
day.  We’ve started giving him the drops around 6pm and he seems
to fall asleep peacefully around 10-10:30pm.  Last night were
invited to friends for dinner and we forgot the drops so he fussed and
didn’t go to sleep until almost 1am.

At least he has continued to sleep through the night since he was around 2 months old so I guess I can’t complain too much. (more…)

Pink Floyd

Saturday, September 4th, 2004

Gavin and I spent Friday night listening to Pink Floyd.  I was
looking at my CD collection on the shelves that haven’t been converted
to mp3 yet and decided that since Mom was out singing karaoke, tonight
would be a good night to do a rip Pink Floyd guys hangout night.
Gavin did pretty good, in fact he did so good, I might think about
playing Pink Floyd every night! (more…)
