People

So far the hardest part about staying home is the lack of interaction
with other people.  I’ve been lucky enough to get out and go
grocery shopping and walks to downtown St. Charles, but that just gets
me out of the house.  My job before this one was managing the
service level and answering technical questions at a 300 person call
center.  So not only was I worried about what the Agents were
doing on the phone, I was also helping to solve their problems 2-3 at a
time.  I guess I just miss the interaction.  Luckily some of
the people I worked with need to use IM programs for their job so I can
talk to them when I need to.  It helps a lot.

I’m sure I’ll find other ways to pass the time, or soon Gavin will be
more active and able to communicate with me more, but right now that is
the hardest part.

If only I enjoyed Court TV programs… (more…)

It seems I was having some issues with the site displaying my .php
index page and kept showing an old .html one.  I seem to have
fixed it for now. (more…)

0 to screaming in 6.0 seconds

Just when you think you have it all planned out you realize it ain’t
gonna happen.  My dad came by today to start replacing our storm
windows when a friend I used to work with stopped by with his new WRX wagon and asked if I wanted to take it for a spin.
Gavin was asleep so I asked my dad if he could go inside and watch him
for 15 min and I would be right back.  16 min and 100 MPH later I
get back home and Gavin is SCREAMING!!!!  Just going nuts,
coughing and gagging, arms flailing everywhere.  My dads trying to
comfort him but to no avail.  I asked when did he start screaming
and he says, “about 2 minutes after you left”  After thanking my
dad for watching him I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to figure
out what could be so upsetting to a 2 month old.  After trying
different things for the next 4 hours I came to the conclusion that it
was the fact I didn’t have the TV on.  I hope that wasn’t really
it. (more…)

Well, we did it!

Well today is the first day of my new job.  So you may ask, “What
am I doing sitting at home?”.  My new job is caring for my
wonderful new son Gavin
My wife makes the money and we couldn’t justify outsourcing parenting
so we could have a few hundred extra dollars at the end of the
month.  So I quit my old job of DSL tech support on Friday and now
here I am!

This will be a site about ME, not the baby.  It will cover what
goes on when a man does so called “women’s work”.  I’ll share the
good times, the bad, and of course any funny stories that may come
along. (more…)
